About The Disneyland Diehard Blog

When I was younger, my family went on a couple vacations to the “Happiest Place on Earth” and I became completely enthralled by everything there.  I knew the fastest way to get from point A to point B, the rides to go on first to avoid long lines later, and the best place to get a Disneyland churro.

As I got older, I suppressed the love I had for my favorite amusement park.  Most 22 year olds can’t afford to go on a regular basis and I was no exception.  So rather than pine and pout, I forgot…until recently.

I am now almost 40 and am married to the most amazing woman in the world.  Together, we have a wonderful son who is about to turn 4 this year.  For his 3rd birthday, we decided to take him for a weeks vacation to the “Happiest Place on Earth”.  Within an hour, all the feelings I had suppressed, came back to me like a freight train.

That was August 2013.  Since then, my family has become annual pass holders and we go as often as possible.  I travel quite a bit for business and occasionally sneak a half day or an evening trip in when I’m in the area (Some would argue that Las Vegas  is NOT in the area but it’s good enough for me).

On my most recent trip to the park, I was there to decompress from my work and do a little soul searching.  Work had become overwhelming with things to do, projects to complete, and 3 straight weeks of travel and very little time with my family.  What I came up with was that I needed an outlet.  Something to do that didn’t involve work and something I could also do when I was traveling around the country.  I always have my laptop and feel like I have a plethora of things to write about.

I am by no means a professional writer.  I graduated high school, went to college for a couple semesters and worked hard for over a decade to become an operations manager for the company I work for.  My writings won’t be perfect and they’ll be my opinions…maybe not yours.  I just wanted an outlet and thought it might be fun to share it with others as well.  I hope you enjoy it.

  1. Hi, James.

We are a frequent WDW family, but we will be heading to DLR in August. We are very excited, but a little anxious about our lack of knowledge/strategy. I enjoyed your information regarding Fantasmic and I have a question that I am hoping you can help with:

If we obtain standard fastpasses, but don’t do the dining package for WOC, is there a designated area that allows guests to sit, rather than stand (similar to the Fantasmic arrangement)?

Also, I would be very interested in learning about your recommendations for other Diamond Celebration strategies (viewing for shows & other helpful hints). This will be an exciting month because the celebration starts in just a few weeks!

Thank you for your ideas and time!
